San Diego Road Trip: Los Olivos & Route 157

20130406-132520.jpg
We are on a 1200 mile round trip drive down to San Diego. We just left Morro Bay, jumped back on the 101, and then exited on an other back road to Santa Barbara. If you do this trip take route 157 toward Los Olivos. The town is fantastic! I had a grilled tri-tip sandwich from the general store. (PS, the pea soup place is Anderson’s and I changed my mind and explores Los Olivos instead đŸ˜‰ Off to Santa Barbara! (The last picture is where I am right now!)

San Diego Road Trip: Pismo Beach

20130406-110934.jpg
We just arrived in Pismo Beach! The last time I did this trip I found an incredible view I wanted to show you. It’s off the Price Street exit in front of the Best Western Plus hotel. I’ve never stayed here but the views from the rooms must be beautiful!

I’m looking out over the sand dunes and the huge rock that marks Morro Bay. The surfers are walking over the dunes, boards in hand. Its a gorgeous day! It’s about 10:30am and I’m starving! I just cracked open a diet Pepsi (yes, I know they are bad for you ;)) out next stop will be to get the best split pea soup!

San Diego Road Trip: Backroads to Morro Bay

If you’re just joining me, I’m blogging live on a 1200 mile round trip drive from Los Gatos to San Diego and back. I just took us off highway 101 got on the 46 which is the backroad to Morro Bay. It’s also the road that takes you to the Hearst Castle which I’ll show you on an upcoming blog. On the 46 you pass vineyards, wineries, farmland. And then you find yourself on a ribbon of road that cuts through hills that are spring green dusted with yellow and purple flowers. The trees dripping with moss. Here are some of my photos!

San Diego Road Trip! First Stop, Starbucks

20130406-051648.jpg
We are off! This is the first stop on our trip down to San Diego. It’s 5:15am and Starbucks is open! I’m sitting in my car writing this, smelling the fresh brewed coffee and listening to the music playing on the outside speakers. Country, which I love. Ok, time to hit the road. As my Dad says, every minute’s a mile!
