Just a quick Tuesday escape to Monterey Bay Harbor by the Fisherman’s Wharf… Enjoy!
First, I don’t crave sweets. I am a salt loving girl through and through. But I do find it hard to pass by Sprinkles and not pop in and buy a red velvet cupcake. I was going through some of my photos and found this one. (I wish I had just taken it just a second ago and that big glob of icing was in front of me) Anyway, I got to thinking – is red velvet colored vanilla or chocolate so I did a little research. Red velvet is actually a light cocoa cake with either food coloring or beetroot added. I don’t remember red velvet cake growing up and found that there was a resurgence in the popularity of this cake because of the film Steel Magnolias (1989). During the wedding scene, the groom’s cake is a red velvet, made in the shape of an armadillo. (Red velvet wedding cake is a southern tradition) So if you were wondering if I exercised “portion control” (where you just eat half of everything)…not this time: 😉
If you’ve never heard of Sprinkles – here is their website. There might be one near you! http://www.sprinkles.com/

Here’s another type of photography that I absolutely love (and I hope you’ll try): Photographing reflections in windows. A couple months ago I was in Manhattan Beach, California. One of my favorite things to do is walk along The Strand, which is a bike/foot path that runs along the ocean. On one side you have beautiful homes, the opposite side, the beach. The reflections in the windows are quite amazing and when I see a really cool one, I always take a quick pic. Larger windows with panels make the image even more interesting (Like you see in the photo below – that’s me on right, donning a baseball cap which is how I look most mornings). If you find some fabulous refections let me know! Cheers!
PS – if you missed my blog on Manhattan Beach, I hope you’ll check it out: http://photogirltravels.com/category/manhattanhermosa-beach-ca/

Happy St Patrick’s Day! I just got back from the coffee shop and realized I had forgotten to wear green. I do this often on this holiday so always tell people my eyes are green so there’s no need to overdo it. One tradition that I always keep is to eat a classic St Patty’s day meal which you see above. I actually don’t cook it but go to Lunardi’s, one of our local grocery stores and pick it up. I posed this photo for the blog but will wait until tonight to actually eat it. In the mean time I was wondering about the holiday and thought I’d get some more facts for us in case you need to “wow” someone at a party. So here is what I have:
So with these fun facts you’re ready to hit any party well prepared. Stay safe today and tonight and have fun!
I’ve been so busy over the last few weeks; I’ve not been able to post a blog. A real bummer because I do have some fabulous places to show you. In the mean time I ran across a photo of me when I was probably 6 months old. I am absolutely sure I was dreaming of my first trip…Note the look of anticipation, excited to hit the road (stroller, top pulled back), pop in a book on CD (Are You My Mother?) and take the first sip of 1/2 and 1/2 infused coffee (formula). I hope everyone is doing great! My next blog will post this week!
