We just arrived in Pismo Beach! The last time I did this trip I found an incredible view I wanted to show you. It’s off the Price Street exit in front of the Best Western Plus hotel. I’ve never stayed here but the views from the rooms must be beautiful!

San Diego Road Trip: Morro Bay

I’m looking out over the sand dunes and the huge rock that marks Morro Bay. The surfers are walking over the dunes, boards in hand. Its a gorgeous day! It’s about 10:30am and I’m starving! I just cracked open a diet Pepsi (yes, I know they are bad for you ;)) out next stop will be to get the best split pea soup!
San Diego Road Trip: Backroads to Morro Bay

If you’re just joining me, I’m blogging live on a 1200 mile round trip drive from Los Gatos to San Diego and back. I just took us off highway 101 got on the 46 which is the backroad to Morro Bay. It’s also the road that takes you to the Hearst Castle which I’ll show you on an upcoming blog. On the 46 you pass vineyards, wineries, farmland. And then you find yourself on a ribbon of road that cuts through hills that are spring green dusted with yellow and purple flowers. The trees dripping with moss. Here are some of my photos!
San Diego Road Trip! First Stop, Starbucks

We are off! This is the first stop on our trip down to San Diego. It’s 5:15am and Starbucks is open! I’m sitting in my car writing this, smelling the fresh brewed coffee and listening to the music playing on the outside speakers. Country, which I love. Ok, time to hit the road. As my Dad says, every minute’s a mile!
San Diego Road Trip! Day Before Departure

Tomorrow at 6am we are going to hit the road and head south – our destination is the beautiful city of San Diego! I’ll be blogging live along the way, so get ready to see the coast and eat some amazing food. The overall roundtrip drive will be ~ 1200-1500 miles.
When we get to San Diego we’ll attend the largest Social Media Conference. Opening night is at the Balboa Park’s San Diego Natural History Museum for an evening party. We’ll taste some of San Diego’s favorite dishes while checking out the life – sized dinosaurs. The next night we’ll sail aboard the largest charter yacht in Southern California. The Inspriation Hornblower stretches 222 feet with 3 decks. It also has an open-air sky deck which I’ll show you. I’ll also share some social media tips.
After the conference we’ll head back up the coast, enjoy the ocean views, Santa Barbara vineyards, and again search out some fabulous restaurants. If you have any suggestions please post them! If you’d like to receive email updates as I post, just click the FOLLOW button on the upper right corner.
A special thanks to my friends from New York who are going to stay at my house and keep my tomato plants watered. They just arrived and their kids have more things plugged into my TV – I have no idea what everything does which is pretty humorous!
See you in the morning! We’ll stop at Starbucks first and then hit the road. San Diego, here we come!!!!
Road Trip to Mendocino: Coastal Trail
Currently, we’re up in Mendocino which is a beautiful town which sits on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. If you’re on Main Street standing in front of the Mendocino Hotel you’ll see a path leading out to the cliffs. There are actually many paths out there that wind around and it’s a beautiful place to hike. It was sunset when I got there so I took a glass of wine and followed the path over to my favorite bench (photo below). Here are some photos I shot on my last trip. In the photo below you can see some of the unique stairways that take you up the hillside. It’s absolutely beautiful! Continue reading “Road Trip to Mendocino: Coastal Trail”
